Worship ServicesWe have a wide range of ages at St John’s, and three very different services on a Sunday. The various types of service are a chance for us to meet the diverse needs of the congregation and explore styles of worship. For details, dates and times please see the Upcoming Services page.
Café Church is on the second Sunday morning of each month & is a relaxed service where discussion and coffee are the centrepieces of each table. All other Sundays at 10am, we hold the sort of family service with which most Christians will be familiar; a combination of worship, teaching, liturgy and intercession. Children are welcome to stay in the service, but there is a crèche for children under 3, and Sunday Club for older children. Holy Communion is shared on the first and third Sundays of each month.
Children are welcome to stay in the service and there are toybags at the back of the church. There is a Creche in the St John’s Rooms for children under 3, and Sunday Club in the Hall and Rooms for those aged 3 and over. Children usually come into the service with their parents and then leave for Sunday Club after the second hymn, returning during the Communion. In the school holidays there will be Holiday Sunday Club in the hall for primary and preschool aged children, with games and activities.
The 8am Communion service every Sunday keeps the much-loved traditional wording of the Book of Common Prayer. Our 6pm evening service offers the chance to explore quieter forms of worship such as Taizé. Holy Communion is shared on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.
